The home of the Solarus family was palatial. It was even larger than the Horn mansion, though it technically sat upon less land. They also sat several steps down the social ladder from the Horn's, the trade off of spending their wealth on status symbols instead of actually cultivating influence to improve standing in the nobility of the Corellian Sector. Officially speaking, Bachman Solarus had no actual title, but there were privileges aplenty to be bought with money or strong-armed out of society by being long term toadies of the One Sith. He wasn't the type to ask nicely if he could threaten, be nice when he could acquire through cruelty. He'd even sold his daughter to the One Sith for his moniker of 'Baron'. It wasn't a title that would last beyond the iron fist influence of the Sith as Corellia did not agree.
Sadly, they also had to pretend like they did. So when the so called Baron's daughter had turned up pregnant during her Sith training everybody had grumbled and began preparing to appease without obligating themselves to anything unpleasant. Low, a few months later, six months into the pregnancy to be exact and excused from her Sith duties for the remainder, Sophia Solarus planned and executed a grand gala of a baby shower that everyone was invited (re: required) to attend. Due to their strong ties to Krayt's Empire that requirement applied even to those of higher rank such as the family of Duke Ryld Horn. All of them, including the often seen, rarely socially acceptable, Kaziki Horn. Son of Ryld, Earl of Horn Bay, and irrepressible ne'er do well, Kaz was by far one of the last to arrive when he walked into the mansion well after sun down, well after the presents had been opened and the guests were merely 'enjoying' the forced socialization of the occasion.
Kaz walked in dressed in the finest of Corellian silks, followed by servants, drinking some unknown liquid from a gem encrusted chalice that he'd brought with him, glancing over just long enough to fire off a wink at a female Imperial Intelligence agent he'd entertained a few months earlier. He didn't appear drunk but the machine was well lubricated if his gate and looseness of posture was anything to go by. Through the main entrance, down the marble steps, and to a stop at the edge of the dance floor where he drained the remainder of the goblet. Tossing it over his shoulder where it was caught adroitly by one of his servants. "Midsummer?" he asked just a touch too loudly, looking about as if he was fairly certain that couldn't be it. "No, Lord Horn, a baby shower for Lady Solarus' unborn child." Kaz blinked, ignoring all the looks he was getting in his brightly colored but otherwise fashionable silk long coat, pants, shirt, and dark nerf-hide boots. "Oh... go buy her something nice." He pulled a large denomination credit chit out of his pocket and tossed it at the servant, once again adroitly caught.
"I'm going to go get something to drink, I believe." He grinned and headed for the general vicinity of an open bar while the one servant disappeared back out the door and the rest followed him silently.
