Antares Draco made Kura look like a free spirit. He was so uptight, and swelled up with his own importance, that he seemed to be forgetting the niceties of actually interacting with others. It also appeared as though she herself was less than zero in his eyes, but that was something she could cope with. In the grand scheme of things, Antares Draco was simply another politician (albeit in armour) with a self-serving agenda, and Kura was more than capable of dealing with those.

Her hands tucked comfortably into the sleeves of her robe, Kura remained silent as Kaz and Draco continued to banter, rapidly running down the time available to them. Added to that Draco's very vocal whining about the additional Jedi present, and Kura arched an eyebrow at him. "Considering that the Fel Empire and the Jedi are both a part of the Triumvirate, I would have thought that it was in your interests to assist, not to place barriers in our way," she said quietly, but her tone firm enough to leave Draco and the Master in no doubt at all that she was deadly serious. "We have little time, and a potentially deadly ongoing situation that we are here to gain assistance in addressing. If you could leave your needless complaining until after we are done, it would be most appreciated."

She really wasn't in the mood to deal with him.

Eanin's remark made it obvious that he was there for no reason other than to babysit the Knights, and Kura could only surmise that it was because they had not immediately returned to Ossus after investigating the destroyed colony. Going against orders went against the grain with her, but she trusted Kaz, and, if he had a contact who could help to discover what the creature was, then going with him was the only reasonable option.

Draco, however, treated her as less than nothing once more as she asked him whether he had heard about the colony - or, possibly, colonies - that had been wiped out, and she lapsed into silence once more as Kaz detailed the situation further to Eanin and Draco. "Whatever the creature is, it was capable of reducing the livestock into nothing more than bones and a pool of blood, and even consumed a Jedi." She nodded briefly at the extra lightsaber hilt attached to her belt. "There were still beings alive on the colony, but none that were sentient, as far as we could tell. All remaining survivors had retreated into the jungle." She cast a sober gaze around the occupants of the turbolift, knowing that they only had seconds before privacy was no longer guaranteed.

"I fear that this could be the beginning of something much larger unless we find this creature and deal with it."

Snorting at Kaz's question about the Empress, Draco said, "Empress Fel would chew you up, spit you out and have you howling for more, Jedi," the matter-of-fact tone in the Imperial Knight's voice suggested not only that he had experience in that matter (which was a fact considering that Marasiah had been the one to initiate their relationship) but that he knew this to be fact, "And as for the galactic circus - do you really think you're going to be allowed to walk the surface of Bastion? No non-imperial in the history of the Fel Empire has seen our cities - after what my Master did I was kept away from it for most of the Second Imperial Civil War!"

Glancing at Jaig as the timer ran out and the elevator began to move again, Draco sighed as he'd spoken his piece of secret subjects and what he spoke of now was no secret, "This is no field trip, Jedi. This is the Imperial Capital - that value and hallowed love you and this Master and Lady Kura hold for Ossus is held by our people for Bastion... it is the most secure world in the galaxy. That circus isn't allowed outside of the Capital Promenade and is under near-constant guard, if you want to see it we'll need to go there under guard and you'll need approval from either the Empress or the Moff Council,"

Glancing at Kura as she continued to speak out both against him and the Jedi Master, Antares narrowed his eyes at her and said, "I'm sorry you hold so little value and respect for the way our world and government works, but I am only voicing very REAL problems! I have a duty to perform - you Jedi may be able to redefine your goals and horizons as you choose and go where you like and allow the most dangerous members of your order to leave as they are willing - but once again, this is the Imperial Capital... you don't just 'visit' the circus here!" as the lift slid to a stop and the doors slid open, Draco scowled as he caught sight of various guards and soldiers positioned throughout the hall. They weren't at the landing pad or the shuttle-launch that Draco had entered into keypad, "It would seem the Moff council intends to find you first... we're in one of the meeting halls..."

Glancing at Kaz as Jaig led them out through the door, Antares muttered, "You'd better hope the Empress takes a special interest in this after all - because they're likely going to question us for the next few ice ages..."

The Master remained quiet as the discussion of the clones started to draw to a close. Halcyon's remarks about providing Draco with a "win" were interesting, again giving Eanin cause to wonder about the motivation behind the action. It truly appeared that Draco couldn't stand much of the Corellian, and the Farghul doubted that this fact was lost on the young Knight.

Eanin also wondered with who the information that Halcyon provided would get mired in politics. He appeared to mean the Imperial governing bodies, but Eanin couldn't help but wonder whether there wasn't another subtle stab being made at the senior Jedi. It was better than to wonder how much of his time Eanin was going to be spending rolling his eyes at everything Halcyon said, following the roguish smirk offered along with the remark on the Empress.

Draco's response was far more restrained than Eanin expected. The Imperial Knight clearly felt that the Empress didn't need protection from Halcyon, that she could do that for herself. 'It seems there is more to the young Fel than rumours would have one believe.' Some people were under the impression that Fel, being the youngest of the three Triumvirate leaders, would be lead around by the nose. Perhaps this would not be the case after all.

Despite the coolness to her response, Eanin got the feeling that Nuhok was growing impatient with Draco. All in all, he doubted that much of what Halcyon or Nuhok were doing would help them gain the Imperial Knight's assistance. Then again, Halcyon had previous experience with Draco, and probably had a better measure of the man than Eanin did.

The elderly Farghul listened intently as the two Knights elaborated on their findings at the colony. All in all, it would appear to most that they did not have much to go on between their two clues. However, someone skilled with exotic species would perhaps be able to identify the creature based purely on its behaviour. Still, the reasoning for coming to Bastion didn't appear entirely concrete.

Of course, this also made Eanin more concerned that the two hadn't reported all their findings to the Jedi Council. Had they done so, more resources could possibly have been tapped to research the creature, and perhaps identify it. As it was, the two Knights appeared to be pinning all their hopes on the Galactic Circus. He could only hope that they had done so following the guidance of the Force, and that their apparent long shot would pay off.

He made none of his thinking verbal, nor did he reflect his concerns outwardly, however, realising that it would likely be taken as the reprimand that both the Knights seemed to be afraid he was there to give them.

Draco's response to Halcyon's intentions was much as to be expected. Eanin had certainly not been anticipating the Imperial to capitulate and allow them free run, but he was appearing to make the task out as an impossibility that Eanin doubted it was. Voicing this to Draco, however, was a potential minefield, and could make him even less likely to assist. The Jedi Master chose his words carefully, hoping to begin the process of smoothening over some of the difficulties, a process he somehow suspected that Halcyon would not make easy to accomplish.

"I hope you would agree that this situation is serious enough for us to pursue, but none of us expect..." He stopped short, just before the Imperial Knight's mood seemed to worsen even more. It appeared that things were about to get even more difficult for the Jedi.

Not sure of what to expect, Eanin dressed himself in a placating smile and stepped out of the lift with at a gentle pace.

Re: Knights of the Round (Draco, Eanin, Kaz, Kura)

PostAuthor: Kaziki Halcyon » Sat Oct 12, 2013 11:42 pm

Kaz could almost imagine Kura's thoughts regarding Draco Antares, he'd learned enough about her personality in the little bit of time he'd known her (combined with his tendency to learn people quickly and accurately) to guess at where her mind had gone on all that was taking place. Kaz had to admit that Draco was spending a lot of time talking about what he couldn't do instead of taking a stab at doing the impossible. Maybe the Jedi and Imperial Knights were more significantly different than Kaz had always imagined. Kaz's smile was merely reinforced by the thought of Draco publishing an official letter of complaint at the end of every major encounter.

And then Draco was at it, proclaiming the Empress Fel the ultimate man killer. Kaz made a light gesture toward Jaig, giving the Captain a little nudge in the Force that caused her to speak the thought that was erupting in her mind at that very moment. "That's his type, sir." "Just so," Kaz agreed with the woman before carrying on. "You're being dramatic. If what you say were true then the Galactic Circus wouldn't be on the planet, let alone the three Jedi you're in the turbolift with currently."

The elevator lurched into motion and Kaz rolled his neck as a sense of trouble began closing in on them from a few possible futures. What he wouldn't give for a massage right about then, maybe Jaig would be willing since that bridge had been burned by Kura. "And you violated this sanctity you're attributing Ossus during your civil war, by sneakily following someone there no less. We may not have given you a lot of time but we did call ahead, at least. But since the circus is under constant guard I can't see why our visiting it in that promenade should be an issue. Take us to the Empress and I'll get it cleared for you."

Draco tore into Kura for her thoughts on the situation and Kaz intervened ever so slightly. "Probably more an issue of how it doesn't work, but political philosophy requires alcohol and a couple of dancing girls before I'll indulge. Definitely a policy you should take up, Rusty. Eanin here will be happy to field any concerns you have regarding the Order's membership retention policies in the mean time." Kaz leaned to the side, looking around Draco down the hall at all of the beings assorted beyond. "No more parades to day, thank you anyway." He gave them all an apologetic smile around the Imperial Knight.

Turning back to Draco but already reaching out through the Force for the being he was looking for. He'd touched her once before, using an Imperial politician's personal awareness of her and her personal awareness of an Imperial agent to uncover the agent's identity by triangulating him through the Force. He'd sensed she'd been displeased with the turn of events during that brief contact but he'd not given it much thought since then. Of course, no Jedi Knight worth the title would be unable to relocate such a unique, powerful Force-sensitive when he knew that subject was nearby to begin with. Assuming she wasn't actively hiding from him... but why would she ever do such a thing? Everybody liked Kaz and, if nothing else, she had to be curious what brought the little nuisance to Bastion.

It didn't take but a moment before a familiar flash of aggravation turned to the Force equivalent of widening eyes. Kaz smiled pleasantly as he returned to himself. "What's not to be interested in?"

And so it was that Kura pulled herself back from proceedings.

Had she known that it was going to turn into a big boys' testosterone-generation contest, she would have stayed on the shuttle and dealt with the security sweep. It would have been preferable to effectively being shoved into the corner and left to "look pretty".

That was one of the problems she had come across, time and time again. It seemed rare that a female Jedi was taken seriously by anyone outside the order, and Antares Draco was no exception. Ignoring her questions, conveniently acting as though the information she gave was of no consequence, and returning time and time again to a point of complaint, instead of dealing with the topic at hand, he demonstrated nothing so much as the fact that he was a typical male chauvinist, if not worse.

Keeping her hands folded in the sleeves of her robe as the turbolift doors opened, Kura inclined her head slightly to Kaz as he stepped in front of yet another of Draco's whining complaints. The Imperial Knight's constant bickering and moaning was tiresome, and the situation itself was rapidly becoming so. However, it was not her way to make a scene, to push for recognition. Instead, she took it upon herself to withdraw from the petty bickering, and, instead, reached out into the Force, searching for any perceived threats. What she sensed, though, was coming from her partner, who appeared to be reaching out into the Force himself, and she shot him an amused glance. It would appear that Kaziki Halcyon, incurable rake that he was, seemed to be trying to set himself up on a "date" of sorts with the Empress.

She just about resisted rolling her eyes, instead flashing Kaz a small, indulgent smile, accompanied by a tiny disbelieving shake of the head. However, the moment of connection with her partner ended as abruptly as it had begun. Kura's concentration returned to the moment at hand, and her eyes swept warily over the security presence that had come to meet them... wherever they had ended up. "Why such hostility," she asked Draco, her voice low and calm and even. Surely this was not how members of the Triumvirate were supposed to greet one another?

"Do you always afford guests such a greeting?"

Suddenly, the lights in the hallway beyond the open doors of the turbo lift changed color. Becoming amber as a group of Imperial Knights appeared from around a corner beyond the various militant types who were lining the hallway. They swept through, snapping off commands for the other beings to retreat into their various assigned locations. Most of the people did just that, some quickly and others hesitantly, but they all went. When the line of Imperial Knights reached Eanin the lead member looked him up and down for a moment before speaking. "You get back on the turbolift, Knight Draco, you are to come with us."

There wasn't much else for it, Master Eanin was escorted back onto the lift while Draco and Jaig were escorted off of it before the lights in the turbolift turned amber as well. The doors slid shut suddenly, the control panel went black, and the turbolift lurched into motion shooting them upward once again. The Imperial Knights had given no explanation and there didn't seem to be one forthcoming as they shot up through the levels. Not until the lift came to a halt and the doors opened upon what had to be one of the most lavish indoor gardens in all the known galaxy.

Two Imperial Knights stood silently and impassively at the head of a path a few meters away while a young woman in a simple but obviously expensive dress waved the three Jedi forward. "Please, master Jedi. Follow me. Her ladyship would like a few moments of your time."

There was a half heartbeat too long of a hesitation from Master Eanin and Kaz stepped into the breach. It still amazed him that the New Jedi Order had such a hard time producing Jedi who knew lick one about politics, royalty, or any of the niceties (let alone the ugly realities) of the upper levels of galactic society. Kaz was irreverent at best but he still knew how to navigate his way through situations both mundane and urbane. "Master Eanin, perhaps you should linger here and guard our escape route..." Kaz stepped off the turbolift, using his movement to hide a small, sharp gesture with his hand that indicated to Kura she should accompany the Corellian.

Eanin was out of the immediate situation, for the best momentarily, but a strong female personality would be a great asset when dealing with the current ruler of the Fel Empire. Especially with that personality on Kaz's side. "Of course, we wouldn't want to keep 'her ladyship' waiting." He wasn't being amusing, merely playing the game of deference while he quickly plotted his way through the scenario they were presented with. Kaz was good at that but as the handmaiden turned to lead them toward the two Imperial Knights that were watching them impassively in the near distance he turned his eyes to Kura.

"Be mindful, these ImpKnights are the nervous, jumpy types with carte blanche to strike down any perceived threat to their charge. We will need to stand together if this goes poorly." The Imperial Knights specialized in a tactic that made them more dangerous whenever there was more than one present in a fight, a sort of overlapping combat style that allowed them to pool their resources to overwhelm a single foe quickly. Kaz folded over the opening of his robes, fully revealing his frontal form, including the lightsaber hard mounted on his belt in his unusual way, and followed the handmaiden confidently.

Kura found herself momentarily conflicted, glancing to the Jedi Master for confirmation of Kaz's request. However, something in the Force nudged her to make the decision without his input, and Kura nodded sharply as she stepped out of the turbolift after Kaz. She had no idea what his plan was once they managed to get in to see Marasiah Fel, but now it was too late to question him. They were on their way, whether she was ready for this or not.

"Of course," replied Kura, to Kaz's comment about keeping the Empress waiting. She tucked her hands inside the sleeves of her robe, and cocked a glance at Kaz. "And how does the Empress like to be addressed," she asked curiously, but also as much in tease of Kaz as in genuine query. From the overly-familiar way in which Kaz talked about the Empress, and the sense coming from him within the Force, it was obvious that there was a personal connection of some sort there.

It wasn't inconceivable that, at some point, she might have been yet another in a long line of Kaz's conquests.

Nodding at Kaz's warning on the Imperial Knights, Kura pushed back a little ripple of nerves. While Kaz's prowess with a lightsaber wasn't in question, her own style was very much rooted in Shien only, and, while that would be an incredible defence against blaster bolts, it might not be of use if they had to fight Imperial Knights who were used to fighting together as a single entity. "I will stand with you, as well you know," she replied, not quite managing to match the very picture of confidence that Kaz was presenting as they followed the handmaiden towards the double doors at the end of the corridor. She smiled slightly.

"So howi did you say you know the Empress?"

"No, we do not." The handmaiden turned on her heel and glided away so smoothly one might believe that she was floating rather than striding along like the rest of the mere mortals. Without hesitation or deviation she made straight for the gravel path that sat in stark contrast to the otherwise Imperial sterility of the room that contained the artificial garden.

For their part the two Imperial Knights didn't budge an inch while the two Jedi could still see them. Staring impassively the entire time.

Kura hesitated too but for different reasons. She was being asked to break the chain of command, to pick between Kaz's call and a Jedi Master's hesitation. It was a difficult decision at the best of times and that was not even considering the fact that she barely knew him. Kura was on this run because she'd been standing beside Kaz when a Jedi Master came looking for two Jedi to investigate a mysterious occurrence. Despite Kaz's tendency to become everybody's best friend so quickly they often forgot to ask themselves whether they wanted him even as a worse friend, he and Kura were practically strangers. That she chose to follow him after only that moment... well, that was the sort of thing that gave a young man an over inflated ego.

"If she's in the proper mood, anything will work. If she's not, nothing you say will be right." Kaz replied to Kura's question about how Marasiah Fel would want to be addressed. "I'll see how many I can feel out for you but you should stick to calling her Empress or whatever she asks for." His smile said the facade of casual mischief was back in place on the young Corellian Jedi Knight.

They passed the two Imperial Knights, the crunch of their boots on gravel underscoring the fact that they were walking into another being's world. Kaz gave both of the Imperial Knights his best and brightest shining smile as they went by. They looked, or rather felt, surprisingly nervous for the nature of the situation. The Jedi Order and the Fel Empire were allies on paper, thus far they'd even acted like it for the most part. There was no reason for the ImpKnights to be worked up on the part of the Jedi... unless they knew there was going to be trouble regardless of the Jedi themselves. If the Empress was worked up by Kaz's gentle (in his estimation) poke and decided to make an example there was no more dangerous opponent to the Imperial Knights than two trained Jedi.

Kura was busy having doubts about her technique, conveniently forgetting her technique was perfectly capable of weaving an impressive defense against multiple opponents as well, so Kaz extended a feeling of calm to his erstwhile companion in the Force. They wouldn't be able to dominate the room but he was confident that they could escape the room if the need arose.

So how did you say you know the Empress? "I don't know her. I've never even been on the same planet as her until today, to the best of my knowledge." They were coming around some fruit bearing bush and there was a figure standing beside a babbling fountain up ahead. "I met with an Imperial diplomat a month or so ago and discovered the diplomat was running cover for the insertion of an Imperial agent. I used his connection to the Empress to introduce a worry about the agent, then used both of them being aware of the agent's identity to triangulate said agent. When he should have been making his first report he was waking up in a shipping container just within the borders of Imperial space."

Kaz gave her a cheeky smile. "To get us out of a long and pointless interrogation, I reached out to her again in the Force. It turns out she remembers the last time."
