Jedi Temple

The Jedi temple has stood on Coruscant for many years, some believe since the beginning of the republic, though it has stood tall on the surface of the planet it has also been destroyed many times. The temple is a symbol of hope and peace, but over the years people of the galaxy have come to see the temple for something it was never suppose to be, a source of power and unstoppable soldiers. The Jedi were originally peace keepers, yes they carried a lightsaber and knew how to fight in many different ways; they never sought out a confrontation but to bring peace with words. Jambe Lu holds that practice and belief close to his heart. But now, the Temple on Coruscant lays abandoned; the Jedi have been focusing much of their time rebuilding one of their oldest temples, the temple on Ossus.
In the early hours inside the Jedi temple, where the learners quarters where Jambe moved through the halls as quietly as he could, he just got done his exercise routine only minutes ago, and now that he is freshly washed and in clean smelling clothes he heads towards the cafeteria where he and many of those who live in the temple go for meals. It's not that he likes to eat alone or be alone he just likes to get an early start on things so his daily tasks can begin sooner and end sooner; something his father taught him and made sure he understood.
During his free times Jambe liked to study the Jedi order of the past, such as the great and old grand master Yoda. Yoda who only stood at about .66 meters, was extremely strong in the force, but that wasn't all that made him the Grand Master; his wisdom was legendary and his skills with a lightsaber is still debated as unmatched. Though the main argument is that Anakin Skywalker surpassed Yoda in lightsaber skills but everyone knew that his force powers was unmatched for a while. Things of the past, should not dwell on things of the past, but things of the future should be anticipated. Jambe said to himself as he quoted his father.
Jambe entered the cafeteria, quickly gathered what food was already prepared he sat at the table quietly eating his lunch. Soon other learners would be entering the cafeteria before their first lessons began. It was quit common these days to learn in a room with many learners until a Jedi Knight or even a Jedi Master took a learner upon himself and raise the learner to Padawan. Jambe was one of those learners waiting for that to happen. It's not that I'm not ready, to be trained by a Knight or Master, it's just that they are few in numbers and very busy. Jambe thought to himself as he sat there eating his breakfast.
His attention was drawn away from his food as he felt the presence of his fellow learners entering the hall, some of them still yawning and stretching to wake up, most of the learners filled their cups with cafe to try and help wake them up. As they passed him with their trays Jambe either nodded to them or said hello to a few who where just as awake as he was. He checked the time he had left before his class started which was one of his favorites, the teaching of the core force powers. Not much time was available for him to wonder over to where the hangers where stationed; he admired the ships the Jedi had, from the StealthX fighters to the T-65XJ3 X-wings, he would practice in the flight simulators, the StealthX he liked a lot the maneuverability of it and the speed was perfect, but he loved the T-65XJ3 X-wings, their speed and power far surpassed the StealthX.
Meditation, I didn't get a chance to meditate this morning Jambe threw the trash away and headed for his next class early so that he could meditate.

"Initiate Lu, a moment of your time."

The call came from down the corridor just as he emerged from the eating space. The diminutive Master Tiki, a Kushiban Jedi master who sat upon the Jedi High Council but spent most of her time otherwise teaching the youngest of the Jedi students. Her current, personal apprentice, a Herglic, walked slowly along behind her by taking a single stride to every six of hers and appearing to be walking in deep meditation because of it. The female Jedi Master hopped along on all fours until she drew up on her hind legs before Jambe.

"You have been assigned a master Jedi. You are to meet her now." She then waited, allowing the young Jedi student to process what she had just said however he deemed fit. The reaction to the news was always the most fascinating bit of the process for her, it said so much about the student's state of mind on the matter.

As Jambe exited the cafeteria his mind was already in the beginning stage of meditation his body slowly falling into a relaxed state as he walked, not so much at he looked impaired but enough to see his pace was relaxed and fluid.
"Initiate Lu, a moment of your time." A voice called down the hallway, immediately bringing his mind and body out of meditation readiness. Slowly Jambe turned around to look for the voice and saw a rather tall Padawan walking towards him, but what caught his eye was the meter tall Jedi Master moving along side the Padawan. Jambe immediately moved towards the Jedi Master, bowing before Master Tiki and her Padawan, her eyes full of wisdom but a hint of fascination. "Master Tiki, always a pleasure to speak with you." Jambe said, though he had little interaction with her while he studied here at the temple.

"You have been assigned a master Jedi. You are to meet her now." It hit Jambe like a Rancor hitting a land speeder, the moment he has been dreaming of and patiently waiting for has finally come. Excitement welled up inside of him as well as joy and a small hint of fear. The excitement was because he was finally going to be trained to become a Jedi Knight; the joy was because he knew that his patients had much to do with his selection of being trained but his fear was of failing. He felt his own presence in the Force become damped by the emotions; taking a deep breath he calmed himself down but no matter what he tried the big smile on his face wouldn't go away.
"Thank you Master Tiki, may I know who my Master will be and where I shall find her?" Looking down at the powerful Jedi Master, he could see that she was most excited about this, and probably was for most initiatives waiting to become part of the Jedi Order.

"Oh, such an exciting time for an Initiate. So exciting. Come, come, we will guide you to your new master."

Master Tiki had grinned at the young man all the way through his reaction process, much pleased with the perfectly normal feelings Jambe was projecting into the Force. She turned and quickly bounced up to land lightly on the young Herglic's shoulder. "Maudib, return us to the lesson room that we just came from." Teaching a lesson about awareness, getting a free ride, and accomplishing the task of leading Jambe to his new teacher all in one go. The mark of a Master was accomplish multiple tasks in a single act.

Down several halls, down a couple of levels, and to a room along the least finished side of the temple that was aimed at the landing fields and as they passed one of the open balconies there was a largish, armed freighter dominating the landing field beyond merely by being the largest ship out there. They finally came to a door and the Herglic looked to Master Tiki for her to pass judgement. "You've done well, my young apprentice." She hopped down, waving her hand at the door and stepping through as it opened to reveal an arena style room with rows of benches arranged in a four sided square around a single fencing circle.

Down by the fencing circle sat two Jedi. The first was a male of dark hair and green eyes, reclined on one of the benches smiling and whistling an operatic composition to himself. The second was a Togruta, standing and watching the arrival of the trio.

Jambe Lu moved through the Jedi Temple a step behind the Jedi Master and her apprentice. As they walked through the Temple; Jambe made sure his appearance was tidy. He pulled his hair back into a tight tail, as well as checking to make sure his robes and tunic were clean and wrinkle free. As Jambe did this he couldn’t help but ponder the sense of approval from Master Tiki, as though his reaction was a test on itself. Of course it was a test Jambe, they don’t call her Master Tiki for nothing he thought to himself as he caught up and matched pace with the apprentice carrying Master Tiki.

Jambe admired the work that has been put into the restoration of the Temple to it’s former glory. He especially liked the patter on the tile flooring; the patter itself was to help promote peace and serenity, which was always good for a Jedi. As they moved deeper into the temple after descending many levels the restoration seemed to be moving slower in this part of the temple. The Masters, Knights, and apprentices had worked hard on restoring the use of the rooms in this area. One of the doors in this hallway was left open revealing the beautiful view it held behind its door. Past the door was a balcony that over looked the landing field that was filled with all types of ships, but the large freighter that looked armed to its max sat on its struts was what caught his eye, it looked beautiful to Jambe. He turned and caught up with the Jedi Master and her apprentice only to come to a quick stop inside the door way of a large room.

The room itself was built in a unique sense, instead of being round the room was squared off, with four rows of seats, in the center of the room was the area that was the center of attention, which held the fencing circle. Though Jambe has never been in this room he heard many theories of it and stories but what to believe he wasn’t sure. Some of the initiatives believed this is where they took those who became to old or useless to the temple and dismissed them from the order never to be seen again, others believed it was where the Jedi Masters and Knights tested themselves against each other to see how strong or wise they were. Jambe didn’t know what to believe; both those theories seemed ridiculous to him. In the room sat two beings, a human male, with dark hair, he was laying on his back on the bleachers, the other a Togruta; who seemed to be studying the trio in the doorway. No she is only studying me
Jambe turned towards the Jedi master as he realized they have reached their destination and bowed in respect of the Jedi Master.

Thank you Master Tiki it was a pleasure walking with you Jambe said before descending into the area; with each step he could feel his nerves rising to the surface, threatening to shake his whole body apart. Taking a deep breath he took control of his nerves and suppressed them, causing his body to relax once more. The Togruta was familiar looking to Jambe, which of course wasn't impossible he has been with the temple for ten years now so they could of walked past each other in the halls or shared lessons together. The human male was whistling a tune that Jambe didn't know but seemed peaceful enough, Jambe reached into the Force and could feel the two beings standing out; they were both very powerful. Jambe stopped a few meters away from the Togruta and bowed. Greetings, my name is Jambe Lu he said noticing how the Togruta was still standing in a neutral position, her back straight and her body never swaying. This didn’t give Jambe any answers only more mysteries to who she was.

"But I am not ready for an Apprentice!"

Kura's arguments had fallen on deaf ears: she should have known that it was futile to argue with Master Tiki. For some reason, despite it having been mere months since her own Knighting, Kura Nuhok had apparently been assigned an Apprentice of her own. She had protested all the way to the training class, Kaz in tow, where Master Tiki had ordered her to wait and to assist in the class, until she had brought her whoever this new Apprentice was.

"The Order must, indeed, be desperate if I have been assigned an Apprentice," she murmured to Kaz as they watched the Initiates train. "And I do not understand why they have been assigned to me. You are far more experienced, for example, as are many of the other Knights." In truth, Kura was terrified. She barely felt as thought she was ready to take care of herself, much less train someone else. While she was more than aware that it was a great honour to be assigned an Apprentice at such a young age, she did not want to let him down.

Her frustration was rising to such a point that even Kura could tell that it was affecting the Initiates who were training in front of her, and she closed her eyes, wrapping herself in the Force for a few minutes, until she was able to calm her wayward emotions.

Kura started to pace to control her nerves, letting her kinetic energy diffuse the disquiet she was feeling. She didn't have to pace for long, though, before she felt Master Tiki's presence approaching, and she stood, stock still, her eyes on the door.

Tiki was accompanied by her own apprentice, Maudib the Herglic, and a smile slipped into place on Kura's lips as she noted the little Kushiban dancing around excitedly. No matter the fact that she felt utterly unprepared and unworthy of the task at hand, Tiki's boundless enthusiasm was almost infectious on its own. "You do realise I will be requiring and requesting your help with my Apprentice," she murmured to Kaz in a very delicate aside. He was far more prepared for this than she was, and it was almost unfair that, due to politics, she had been selected over him.

Clasping her hands in front of her, Kura kept her eyes on Tiki and the Initiate that she was bringing forth. He looked familiar, and Kura scanned her memory to place a name to him. She raised her chin slightly as he approached, not quite avoiding a small smile sliding onto her lips as she inclined her head towards the Initiate as he bowed. "I am Knight Kura Nuhok," she replied, her expression serious as she gestured towards Kaz. "And this is Knight Kaziki Halcyon. I am pleased to make your acquaintance."

And the source of Kaz's current amusement was stated once again. Kura, by her own estimation (and that of no one else), was not yet capable of teaching an apprentice. They'd gone back and forth ever since she'd been told and he had merely turned to whistling his opera while she continued to seethe over it all. Kaz couldn't complain, he knew she was more than capable of performing the task if she would calm down and approach the situation practically. All she had to do was what had worked for her, and when that didn't work for her apprentice she merely had to do something different until she found something that -did- work. Easy, really.

She also knew full well why the Initiate had been assigned to her. That the Order was desperate to turn Initiates into Apprentices was no secret, there were more Initiates than Knights and Masters combined due to the most recent Purge. That she was picked before Kaz had many elements to it but in the end, as far as the majority of Masters were concerned (at least for the moment) Kura was the better choice as a teacher than Kaz was. Kaz would have been genuinely surprised had they handed him a student and suspicious of the choice to boot.

And then, finally, in came Tiki, her apprentice, and the new meat. Kaz remained where he was, feeling it all through the Force, and savoring that new presence as only a Jedi could. It wasn't until Kura introduced him that the rakish man sat up in much the same way as a Corellian Sandpanther who'd just heard a prey animal cry out in pain. He looked the young man over for a few long seconds, smile firmly and laconically in place, before giving a chin lift in casual greeting.

Master Tiki gave Jambe a respectful incline of her head in return for the thanks and lingered in the doorway as the young man went to meet his Jedi master for the first time. After a few moments, however, she regretfully turned back into the hallway to go see to her next task as a respected member of the High Council, pulling her apprentice along with her by sheer force of practiced habit.

The other students training in the space seemed to be minding their own business, focused as they were on practicing whatever point of their lightsaber techniques currently concerned them enough to draw out the effort.

Re: Jedi Temple

PostAuthor: Jambe Lu » Sat Jul 26, 2014 8:01 pm

Jambe studied the Jedi Knight before him, her presence in the force was almost amusing. Her aura was filled with nervousness but determination, also a hint of sadness. That is what made Jambe curious about Kura; it's as though she didn't want him as an apprentice. Don't be ridiculous. he thought to himself. The Togruta was standing in front of Jambe and being pleasant with the introductions which also amazed and even humored him as well, her hands were folded in front of her for a few minutes before moving to be folded behind her back, which showed Jambe that she was as nervous as he was. Also aware that his hands where stuck to the sides of his body and not moving; Jambe drew a deep breath calming himself physically and the storm of emotions raging in his own Force aura. For instance fear, excitement, nervousness, and joy; the fear he had was failing himself and the order. His excitement was the join the ranks of Knights and serve the Jedi Order, nervousness was normal he was told for meeting your master for the first time but the joy he felt out weighed them all just because he was picked by the Order to be trained was enough to encourage Jambe that he was doing the right thing.

Next there was Kaziki Halcyon, he seemed to be enjoying the awkwardness between the two; but yet he had a sense of pride in his force aura. Maybe he is happy for his friend, or has pride for her? Jambe thought to himself, but when they were introduced Jambe bowed slightly to the other Jedi Knight while in return Jambe just received a slight nod of the head. Jambe liked him already, seemed to be easy going and relaxed, more of a go with the flow kind of persona. But yet for him to achieve the rank of Knight Kaz must of worked hard and diligently, just like Jambe would. Jambe turned back to Kura, her eyes where intense as though she was deep in thought Or they just always looked like that Jambe thought to himself.

The sounds of the other initiates seemed to drown out into background noise until at last he couldn't hear them no more, slowly he looked around and saw that they were in the process of gathering their things; he noted that some of the younger initiates seemed to be proud of themselves while the older initiates glared at Jambe Lu. He understood why, he was one of them once; seeing an initiate be picked to become a padawan and yourself not get picked was tough sometimes. But he did what most of the initiates did when they where chosen he smiled apologetically at them all as they went past him. "The pleasure is all mine Knight Kura Nuhok, as well as you Knight Kaziki. I was instructed that I would meet my new master and that she would be waiting for me. I hope that I haven't kept you waiting long Master Kura." There Jambe did the best he could to try and break the ice and work towards creating the bond between the Master and apprentice.

Kura focused in on the young Apprentice, reading him through the Force as best she could, even though she knew that Kaz would be doing a much better job than she ever could. She made a mental note to discuss his initial impressions with him later. She was getting a mixture of emotions, including a distinct hint of doubt, a hint that was quickly masked by something more... anticipatory.

She knew precisely nothing about Jambe Lu, but she had seen him around over the last few years. He wasn't that much younger than she was, and, therefore, shouldn't be too far from graduating as a Knight himself. Once more, she cursed herself for not having pushed the issue with Master Tiki, instead of letting the little Kushiban stonewall her.

Hearing Jambe call her "Master" seemed out of place, and she flashed Kaz a quick glance. This was going to take a lot of getting used to. "You have not kept me waiting any longer than is necessary," she replied, a small smile on her lips as, once more, she felt completely out of her depth. Tucking her hands into the sleeves of her robe, she inclined her head towards the door through which Jambe had recently entered. "I should like to take a walk, and for you to tell me about yourself," she said, starting to move off already. "Knight Halcyon is my partner, so you shall be working with both of us throughout your Apprenticeship with me." She smiled Jambe in an attempt to put him at his ease.

"I understand that this is an unusual situation, with my not having selected you personally. If there is anything that you wish to ask me, you may do so."
