[[I wasn’t sure exactly where you wanted this thing date wise… so I can change it if you want it different, just let me know. :) ]]

Zurda was on some obscure Outer Rim planet again. It wasn’t unusual… he’d been relaxing for a few weeks between jobs he liked to hang out in the lesser known regions of space where people were more relaxed (or at least the rules were usually)… besides what, or rather who he needed was here too… this needs to look legit. That’s what his employer had said… or rather the person his employer had had contacted him said that. It couldn’t look like a kidnapping… and if they wound up dead it couldn’t look like a murder. Sense his specialty was rather kidnapping and killing, he wasn’t entirely sure why they’d chosen him… except maybe he didn’t have any scruples.

The target was apparently a “legitimate” businessmen who was his money launderer that had ripped off the wrong Mr. K – who ever that was, and now Mr. K wanted a face to face meeting with his associate. Problem was he couldn’t just pick the man up and have him hauled off… it had to look like he wanted to go… and a little extra fire power wouldn’t hurt. Apparently the Amaran, Treven, that Mr. K was upset with paid for a lot of muscle.

Zurda was not trying to hire her for back up though. He was hoping to employ her… background in diplomacy. This Treven apparently responded well to words (not even close to his forte) and women… well he was 90% sure he would respond to that at least if she played along… from what he saw from across the room where he’d been watching her over his drink and game of cards. He looked back down at his cards and finished out his hand.

He hadn’t been paying too much attention to the game… he was too focused on the blonde woman he’d been told was useful for this sort of thing… and so he’d lost this hand, and the one before… but he’d won the other three… no big deal. He took a long draw from his glass, finishing off his drink he left it behind as he stood and crossed the room to where she was. “You look board as I am,” he said not sounding at all as personable as such an introduction would usually imply.

It was a few days now since Auren had left the company of the Imperial ship, a parting of the ways that she couldn't say that she regretted. If anything, her work with the Imperials had made her all the more determined to go her own way and not have to work for "the man" again. They were assholes, every single one of them, and if she never had to see another Imperial again, she'd be more than happy. The payout hadn't been half bad, though, and, added to the credits that she had been squirrelling away over the last fifteen years, she could probably afford to buy a brand new ship [i]and[/] crew it for a year without having to worry. Maybe now was a good time to get out of the smuggling game after all, and go legit.

Yeah, right. Where was the fun in that?

Anyway, getting her own ship meant making a few contacts and securing the best deal. Sure, she could go cap in hand to her father, but, after all this time, she wasn't prepared to throw herself on his mercy and ask for help. He'd take that as a sign of weakness, and possibly even try to marry her off again. Well, scrog that. Anyway, she'd set up meetings with a couple of reputable dealers, and was waiting - somewhat impatiently - for them to arrive. There were far better things she could be doing than cooling her heels in a dive bar.

Auren glanced up as a young Zabrak man addressed her. He didn't look a thing like the pictures of the dealers she had been sent and she arced an eyebrow up at him as he asserted that she looked as bored as he felt. "Waitin' for meetings to start'll do that to you." She punctuated her statement with a sip of the water - Auren had figured that she had better keep a clear head - from the glass in front of her.

"An' I don't think you're who I'm waitin' for, are you, kid?"

He wouldn’t look like any of the dealers because he wasn’t attached to them… and they’d never met or spoken before, but hers was the name that was given when he had been asking around.

Zurda gave a nod. Obviously the Zabrak wasn’t much of a talker. He easily became impatient and waiting on someone else was about the best way for him to get irritated… but he was not, waiting that is. He was kind of fishing though… her reaction to his presence hadn’t been negative at least, that was something. Maybe…

“No, I’m not,” no point in denying the obvious, she was who he was looking for though. Kid though… hardly. Zurda might have been young (and probably really young for having been at his current profession for a few years now) but he was hardly a child. Childhood had ended for him rather abruptly with a harsh and violent smack upside the head and kick in the pants from reality.

The young Zabrak's reply was simple and to the point, and it seemed to be something that put an end to their little interaction. Well, it would have been if the young man had wandered off and headed back to whatever he had been doing. Instead, he loitered with the sense of urgent intent, something that Auren wasn't expecting, if she were honest. It looked as though the kid felt that he had business with her, and that either meant that she needed to be seriously on her guard, or she'd be laughing him out of the place in just a few minutes.

She quirked an eyebrow up at the young Zabrak, inclining her head questioningly. "So... if you're not one of the guys I'm supposed to be meetin'..." She shrugged. "Is there somethin' you're wantin' from me, kid? I ain't got much time, so if there's somethin' you want to be talkin' to me about, you better spit it out."

She really was impatient wasn’t she, but that was ok. Well that was close enough to an invitation for Zurda… and honestly, even if she’d have ignored him he was unlikely to leave. He sat on the next stool over and turned his head do he was facing her. “Possibly,” he hadn’t quite made up his mind yet, “I’m trying to acquire something… and I’ve heard you’ve some skill with negotiations.” It was vague at best… he didn’t know here, and he wasn’t willing to divulge much at a glance, but it was enough to make his basic intention obvious… he was looking to employ her services.

It was very obvious by now that the young Zabrak had an ulterior motive for approaching her: he was either going to hit on her, or ask for something. Auren laid internal bets with herself as to what it might be. Quick sex, a kiss to win a bet, maybe even to be his escort for the night.

Or none of the above.

It honestly took her a little by surprise when he asked about her skills as a negotiator, and Auren nearly spurted water out of her nose at the notion. "Kid, you better like your negotiations with added firepower if that's somethin' you've heard about me," she laughed, shaking her head. "It's been years since I did anythin' other than that. If you're after somethin' in the 'soft an' fluffy' line of things, you might have the wrong woman!"

“My name is Zurda, and I do not do ‘soft and fluffy’ anything,” he said rather coolly, but then he smirked. It was the first show of anything other than his normally cool, detached demeanor. “My favorite kind of negotiations involve some kind of weapon,”a soft chuckle escaped him then, he was already beginning to decide he liked her, “I’m told he likes blondes.” Pause.

He wasn’t really joking, but it might have come off that way, maybe. “But… I can’t just walk in and throw him over my shoulder and walk out, or else I wouldn’t even be on this planet anymore. He’s supposed to come… ‘willingly’.”He canted his head and gave her a rather obvious once over – he wasn’t checking her out that way but it was an obvious appraisal. “I know you’re waiting for someone… but are you looking for work?”

The smirk was almost out of place on the Zabrak's face, and Auren couldn't help but return it in kind. "Well, if you don't do soft an' fluffy, kid, you might have come to the right person after all," she conceded, taking another gulp of water. "I don't enter into negitations about anythin' if I can't have at least one weapon with me."

Auren blinked hard as Zurda mentioned that "someone" liked blondes. "What did you say," she said sharply, a suspicious frown slipping onto her features. "You do realise I'm not a damn hooker, don't you?" Her voice contained an incredulous laugh, and she shook her head. Okay, so it might not have been the first time that she had been mistaken for a prostitute, and it might not be the last, but damn... Breathing out slowly, Auren cocked her head at the young man in front of her, regarding him silently for a few seconds, before speaking calmly, quietly, and almost sweetly to the young Zabrak.

"I think you'd better tell me more about this little plan of yours, before I decide whether to rip your balls off and shove them down your throat."

“You wouldn’t be any use to me if you were,” he stated rather flatly, “I’m not looking for a hooker… I just thought it might be helpful if he’d answer the door.”

That. That actually made Zurda laugh, though it only came out as a slightly stifled chuckle. His ego was quite healthy enough that he believed she could nowhere come close to carrying out her threat… but it was still amusing. “I haven’t gotten all the way to a plan yet… we’ve only just met… but there is this guy… Mr. K who wishes for a face to face meeting with this other guy… but it can’t look like a kidnapping. I don’t generally do willing participants.

“Pay’s good though and I’ve worked for Mr. K before, so I know he puts his money where his mouth is… but if you’re not interested, I won’t waste your time.”
He wasn’t really going to leave just yet… but he was willing to if she wasn’t going to have any of it. If she was interested they could find a quieter corner of the bar to talk when she was done with her personal business.

"So lemme get this straight... you don't need a hooker, but you do need someone that this guy would be interested in, enough so as to facilitate this meeting. Am I right?" An unusual proposition to have placed to her, especially seeing as, even in this place, there were easily twenty young, nubile and attractive blondes he could have asked, blondes who were far more likely to achieve the desired result.

"So Mr K wants you to... collect this other guy, who, at the moment, shall remain nameless, and bring him to him for a meeting. However, it sounds as though this other guy won't want to attend, so he's to be deprived of his liberty, but in a way that makes him think he's not...am I right?" It sounded complicated, overblown, and Auren really wondered why they didn't just club this guy around the head with the butt of a gun and deliver him all gift-wrapped, like.

Auren stared at the Zabrak for a few seconds, her eyes narrowing. Okay, so she was looking to buy her own ship, but, if this job paid well enough, it sounded as though it might be something quick and easy. Still, too many holes in the overall plan for her liking. "Sounds like we have things to discuss, kid," she replied, shrugging easily. "Whyn't you go find us a table or somethin', an' I'll deal with what I have to deal with, an' be right over." If nothing else, this "Mr K" sounded interesting, and might be someone who was worth having as a contact.
